Internet Banking and Fraud Prevention
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE USE OF INTERNET BANKING AND FRAUD PREVENTION.
AMP Credit Union would like our members to be aware of current email scams where bulk emails are sent by perpetrators to try and obtain banking details such as passwords, personal code numbers and other details. Usually these messages will start with a response that addresses system outages, card verifications or Internet Banking logons. Members should be warned of the dangers of responding to this type of email. Fraudsters use many tricks such as using financial institutions logos etc to dupe the members into thinking the request is genuine.
AMP CREDIT UNION DOES NOT AND WILL NOT REQUEST SUCH DETAILS AS PASSWORD VERIFICATION OR CONFIRMATION OF ANY OTHER PERSONAL DETAILS OR SECURITY DETAILS.
Some helpful hints on ensuring that your system is safe follows :-
- Change your password frequently and use passwords which are hard to guess.
- Ensure you have anti-virus software and a personal firewall. You should update the anti-virus and firewall products with security patches or newer versions on a regular basis, and never install software or run programs of unknown origin.
- Do not accept links or redirections from other websites or media for the purpose of logging onto our website.
- Always look for the SSL encrypted connection indicated as https:// and a padlock, as well as check that the website's digital certificate is issue by verisign to ibl.inetbank.net.au.
- Always be on the alert for fake websites and suspicious emails purporting to be from your institution, and report these immediately.
- Avoid using computers at public places, such as internet cafes, to undertake any online banking.
